We care about our planet and we want to act for the climate!

We are a non-profit association created to tackle the climate crisis and ensure a sustainable future for Italy.

Impacts on ecosystems, societies and economic activities are an increasingly urgent problem that affects us all, without exception. For this reason we are working to ensure that the climate change becomes a priority in the public debate and occupies a central role in the national political agenda.

We are engaged on a daily basis in education, dissemination and advocacy activities, which aim to combine scientific rigor and the ability to address different audiences.

We collaborate with other associations, local groups, companies and public authorities, both at an Italian and international level, in the belief that the answer to this great challenge can only be collective.

We have been working since 2011, valuing the commitment of many people, and we will continue to do so to promote the change we need.

OUR HISTORY

JULY 18, 2011

Italian Climate Network was founded on July 18, 2011 in Rome: an association of volunteers founded by a group of people, animated by a common feeling for the fight against climate change and projected to the involvement of many young people in education and advocacy activities. The founders come from different fields: from environmental management (Federico Antognazza), climate science research (Stefano Caserini and Sergio Castellari), environmental publishing (Matteo Reale) and environmental journalism (Veronica Caciagli).

2011

Italian Climate Network becomes partner of 350.org global network: thanks to this collaboration, the association's volunteers participate as observers at COP17 held in Durban.

2012

Italian Climate Network wins the Communicating the Kyoto Protocol award with the following motivation: "for creating a large network of citizens, associations and professionals and the everyday work aimed at communicating climate change and its challenges to the public." Published Italian translation of the "Debunking Handbook" on how to debunk climate hoaxes. The first "Live from COP" is produced during COP18 in Doha.

2013

Participation in Global Power Shift, an international climate education workshop organized in Istanbul by 350.org and Greenpeace International. Climate and Youth Section and the School Project are born. Onlus status is recognized.

2014

Italian Climate Network officially becomes an observer association at the UNFCCC. Organizes Power Shift Italia in Rovereto and coordinates the Climate March in Rome. Think Tank on Intergenerational Equity is born.

2015

Italian Climate Network participates in COP21 di Parigi with a delegation of 16 under35 volunteers publishing the first #BollettinoCOP in Italian. At the negotiations, a commitment to protect the principle of intergenerational equity in the Agreement is made to sign for the Italian Minister of the Environment.

2016

During work of COP22 in Marrakech Italian Climate Network participates in the founding of the Mediterrean Youth Climate Network (MYCN)

2016-2018

School Project grows by meeting about 8,000 students in 13 Italian regions. In 2017, the association's headquarters is moved to Milan.

2019

Italian Climate Network is awarded, as a partner in an international consortium led by Oxfam, its first major European project (DEAR, Development Education and Awareness Raising Program) with the goal of enhancing the educational (including international) and advocacy program within the negotiations.

2020

"The Green Deal pays off. Benefits for Economy and Jobs in Italy to 2030", the first study coordinated by the association, carried out with the support of the European Climate Foundation and the contribution of the EStà Association.

2021

OkClima! a project aimed at promoting proper and effective communication on issues related to climate change and ecological transition is born.

Italian Climate Network is attending COP26 in Glasgow with 10 delegates including volunteers and staff. BollettinoCOP is renewed and during the negotiations it comes out every day with the participation of 20 staff and volunteers, thus becoming an informative and in-depth event that is increasingly read and appreciated.

2022

With the support of the European Climate Foundation launched the project TELL! 2022 a free training course aimed at the administrators, employees and city councilors of more than 50 Italian municipalities in the metropolitan cities of Bologna and Florence.
