BRAZIL, LIGHTS AND SHADOWS ON LULA’S FIRST TWO MONTHS

The great enthusiasm that greeted the re-election of Ignacio Lula da Silva as President of Brazil last autumn also reverberated among the pavilions of COP27 in Sharm el-Sheikh when the newly elected President visited the Brazilian pavilion together with Environment Minister Marina Silva. Welcomed with choruses in the activists' embrace, Lula had even gone so far as to nominate Brazil as host country for COP30, scheduled for 2025, in the Amazon, symbolically stitching up the wound produced by Bolsonaro's sudden 'no' in 2019, to COP25 already organised and then migrated first to Chile, then to Spain, now bringing it to a highly symbolic location. But how have the first two months of Lula's government gone from the point of view of the environment and climate? It is difficult, due to the complex international scenario, to draw a complete line, but the stories of a ship and of the Amazon Forest they are going to be mentioned, help us in the clearing up our minds.

ALONE IN LADAKH OMAR DI FELICE EMBARKS ON ANOTHER STAGE OF THE ‘BIKE TO 1.5°C’ PROJECT

Ultra cyclist Omar Di Felice's 2023 begins with a new extreme winter adventure crossing the remote Ladakh region among the Himalayan mountains and glaciers. After returning early from Antarctica and waiting to set off again on what will be his second attempt to cross the planet's most remote continent, he has set a new goal. An adventure that marks the point of departure: Omar will cross one of the highest and coldest regions on Earth, Ladakh. Located in the north of India, on the border between Pakistan and China, the region is the Himalayan district that still preserves Tibetan Buddhism intact, so much so that it is also nicknamed 'the Little Tibet of India'.

OUR DEPARTMENTS

We care about our planet and we want to act for the climate!

We are a non-profit association created to tackle the climate crisis and ensure a sustainable future for Italy.
Impacts on ecosystems, societies and economic activities are an increasingly urgent problem that affects us all, without exception. For this reason we are working to ensure that the climate change becomes a priority in the public debate and occupies a central role in the national political agenda.
We are engaged on a daily basis in education, dissemination and advocacy activities, which aim to combine scientific rigor and the ability to address different audiences.
We collaborate with other associations, local groups, companies and public authorities, both at an Italian and international level, in the belief that the answer to this great challenge can only be collective.
We have been working since 2011, valuing the commitment of many people, and we will continue to do so to promote the change we need.

Help us build a better society, especially attentive to future generations!
