JACOPO BENCINI IS THE NEW PRESIDENT OF ITALIAN CLIMATE NETWORK, SERENA GIACOMIN APPOINTED SCIENTIFIC DIRECTOR
Important changes to the leadership of the Italian Climate Network.
Following the resignation of Serena Giacomin from the role of President, the Board of Directors appointed Jacopo Bencini as its new Chairman at an extraordinary open session attended by the Members’ Assembly held in Milan on 22 September 2024. Confirm in this phase all the other social charges, with a view to maximum operational continuity compared to the work set of sensitization, advocacy and promotion of climate education in Italy.
Bencini, researcher and expert in multilateral policies and international climate negotiations, has long been actively involved within the Italian Climate Network. Research Associate at the European University Institute, previously worked at the International Centre for Climate Governance and German Development Institute – IDOS, as well as experiences in well-known Italian organizations. He has worked with the European Commission, the African Union, Chatham House and is active as a trainer at Italian and European levels. He also has experience in local and international volunteering, as well as ten years of experience as a local administrator.
At the same time, the Board of Directors decided to entrust Serena Giacomin, former President, with the role of Scientific Director of the association, towards increasing involvement of the Scientific Council in the supervision and monitoring of published content at all levels, with a view to ensuring the usual scientific correctness of publications and campaigns.
Expressing gratitude to Giacomin for his seven years of presidency, during which ICN has grown exponentially in quality, impact and public projection, The Board of Directors and the Assembly of Members thank Bencini and Giacomin for their renewed generosity towards the association’s mission.
