A Green Deal for Italy. Join our 14 April online event
Is it possible to keep together climate action, wealth, the creation of new (sustainable) jobs, and massive investments in technology under a Green Deal approach?
In 2020, Italian Climate Network and EStà – Economia e Sostenibilità scrutinized macroeconomic evidence on Italy and its economy, labour market, and historical emissions per sector in order to better define current trends based on what happened between 1990 and 2018. Data have then been matched with current national and European plans under the European Green Deal and NextGenerationEU, and our final answer was: Yes, we can. Climate and economic ambitions in Italy, however, have to be sustained by a marked shift in national policies concerning investments (and green investments) in technology, but that shift has to occur immediately.
The final report, comprehensive of all scenarios and data, has been released and presented on 7 October 2020 in partnerhip with the Italian Alliance for Sustainable Development (ASVIS). During the past months, the report has been translated into English for our European partners and the wider international public.
“The Green Deal is advantageous: benefits for the economy and employment in Italy by 2030” is the international version of the report and will be available online on this website, for free, from Wednesday, 14 April 2021.
The report launch will be accompanied by a live-streamed online event organized in partnership with Junior Chamber International Italy (JCI – Italy) and EStà, featuring experts and researchers who have been involved in the making of the report in 2020: Massimiliano Lepratti (Author, EStà), Paolo Maranzano (Author, Milano Bicocca University, Italy), Jacopo Bencini (Coordinator, ICN Policy Advisor). The event will be introduced by welcoming notes by Davide Bontempo (President, JCI – Italy) and Serena Giacomin (President, ICN) and moderated by Mike Favetta.
